Jim Richmond practices law in Olympia, Washington, and accepts property tax and other matters concerning serious personal injury and wrongful death, government and administrative claims, and insurance matters.

As a Washington Assistant Attorney General, Jim defended major state agencies and their leaders, including the Attorney General, Insurance Commission, Secretary of Transportation, Ferries CEO, Children's (DSHS), Director of Revenue, the Washington State Patrol Chief, and Labor and Industries. As an assistant attorney general for 16 years Jim litigated cases with nationwide impact. Jim was senior attorney responsible for tort, maritime, and employment cases at Washington State Ferries. Jim's work in property tax litigation saved Washington and other states millions of dollars. Jim led trial teams against a first class railroad and a public utility where favorable trial verdicts were upheld by federal and state appellate courts.

Before opening this office, Jim was Managing Attorney for a major insurance company's legal office in Tacoma. Through his leadership, the office achieved numerous favorable verdicts and settlements.

Jim is preferred counsel for the Archdiocese of Boston, Washington Transit Insurance Pool, and individual clients. Recently, Jim defended the State of Florida in a railroad valuation case and prevailed against Weyerhaeuser in a property tax valuation dispute in Washington.

For the past twenty years Jim was Chair of the Board of Advisors and adjunct Professor at South Puget Sound Community College. Jim was a merchant seaman and trucking manager during the construction of the Alaska pipeline before being admitted to the Alaska Bar.
